2: Celebrating Our Unsung Heroes
Every day, our school runs smoothly thanks to an incredible group of people working behind the scenes. They may not always be in the spotlight, but their dedication keeps our community thriving.
Our bus drivers are the first friendly faces many students see each morning and afternoon. They ensure every child arrives safely, setting a positive tone for the day with their calm and caring presence.
Our chef and lunch team provide nourishment and comfort through the meals they prepare with care. From planning healthy menus to serving lunch with a smile, they help students refuel and connect in a welcoming space.
At the heart of it all, our office staff keep the school running smoothly. They manage calls, accounting, event planning support, and countless other tasks. They are always ready to help a student, parent, or teacher with patience and kindness.
Together, these unsung heroes form the foundation of our daily life at school. Their hard work, warmth, and dedication remind us that it takes many caring hands to make a school feel welcoming. We are deeply grateful for all they do. Join me in celebrating their hard work and support!

4: Learning Highlights:
Grade 1:
1.10: Be able to discuss word meanings and link new words to those already known.
To begin, Grade 1 Blue took a little “word adventure” to the beach and the park to observe things that have these sounds. The learners sat by the seashore and explored objects they could name and spell. They spelled words in the sand and each house competed to spell words correctly!
Learners created a simple electric car project out of paper in their notebooks. As their cars “moved” along the road, they formed and wrote words with the “ar” and “oo” sounds. Through this activity, we were able to discuss the meanings of new words they discovered at the beach and park. This helped them expand their vocabulary while practicing how sounds and word meanings are connected. Everyone showed great thinking skills, communicated their ideas well, and demonstrated resilience throughout the activity.
Grade 2 -ART
Unit: Feel The Force
PLG Focuses: Thinker and Resilient
Learning Goals:
2.02 Be able to demonstrate improvement when using / practicing a specific technique
2.08 Know about line, value, colour and the difference between shape and form
Our Grade 2 students explored form and shape by creating their own marbles, discovering how shadows and light bring objects to life.
Grade 3
Unit: Temples, Tombs and Treasures
PLG Focuses: Thinker and Resilient
Learning Goals:
2.02 Be able to demonstrate improvement when using/practising a specific technique
2.08 Know about line, value, colour and the difference between shape and form
Grade 3 students finished their ancient Egyptian wall art project. After studying examples, they created their own designs, some imagined new gods, while others reinterpreted traditional ones. Even though tinfoil is tricky to use, they showed great resilience and creativity.
At Hope, we often collaborate across grades and provide opportunities to observe other lessons. Due to this practice, G5 decided to recap some vocabulary in Geography and noticed many learners found it challenging to differentiate between a country and continent. So for an engaging activity, each learner had to announce what continent and country they are from then add their face to the specific location. This idea was inspired by a Map Wall in the G1 class used to promote international mindedness and cultural representation.
During this week's PFL (Process to Facilitate Learning) classes, Mr. Jay0R asked the learners to reflect on one act in and outside school for each PLG. Here are some of their thoughts. We are very happy to see them enjoying thinking about PLGs and how these are embedded in our life in and outside school
G9 IGCSE learners stepped into the shoes of historians analyzing primary sources in forms of cartoons that show the Treaty of Versailles and its impacts. In groups, they looked at different cartoons that presented different perspectives (such as the German or British perspective), and collaboratively thought about the cartoons' messages. One of the core skills in the history course is to be able to analyze and evaluate perspectives on events and issues. The learners demonstrated excellent skills in this activity. In the end, they also practiced writing the answers in a structured and logical way, using the evidence for their conclusions.
