2: New Resource & Policies Page
Some of our very supportive and thoughtful parents have informed me that it can be difficult to find school policies and documents easily. While we do share out all the school policies and other information, it has often been done via emails, announcements in the Parent Portal, or in the Blog. That can be a lot of places to look through if you are searching for something.
To assist with this issue, I have added a new page to our website: https://www.hopeoki.org/policies
This page has a list of all of our policies, Emergency procedures, class information, Safeguarding information, resources, and more! If you ever need to know anything about Hope, please check this page!

4: Learning Highlights
In Prep Art Class we are currently working on the following learning goals: 1.06 Be able to experiment and play with a variety of materials, techniques and technologies
1.08 Know about line and color
1.13 Be able to comment on works of art.
We started the class with a little warm up, the learners drew any animal in under 3 minutes. After the three minutes were done, three learners presented their sketch to the class. After our warm up, we placed the desk faced towards each other with a little bit of space and turns being an artist and model. Finally we discuss three random portraits. The students described the similarities and differences between the artworks. They also describe what materials they use for their artworks. They had so much fun creating a portrait of their classmates.
Grade 1 - History:
1.03 Be able to select and record relevant information about the past
G1M students read articles from different resources and practiced selecting important information about famous buildings around the world. After reading, they answered simple questions based on the texts and created their own booklet using the information they gathered.
As part of our review this week in preparation for the Exit Point, we played a Kahoot quiz about famous buildings around the world. Students used their booklets and also checked the IPC wall to make sure their answers were correct. They did an awesome job—many of them got all the answers correct thanks to their earlier recording task and careful review.
Grade 4 & 5 Exit Point (Unit: Space Scientist)
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Grade 4 and Grade 5 Exit Point presentations! Our learners wrapped up their Space Scientists unit with enthusiasm and creativity as they explored the wonders of the Earth, Moon, Sun, and beyond.
Each group selected a topic they were most passionate about, showcasing their learning through interactive booths, creative displays, and hands-on activities. They connected their knowledge across subjects (ELA, Science, History, Geography) exploring what astronomers discovered in the past, what is known today, and trying to predict what may happen in the future.
The learners also created their own feedback system so they can share their reflections and thoughts to other groups.
Thank you to all the parents and other classes that visited their presentations!
The 8th-grade Knowledge Harvest and MEA Activity successfully introduced the Cartesian Plane and coordinate geometry by adapting popular student games. This hands-on approach directly engaged learners, requiring them to utilize and demonstrate PLG, Critical Thinking, and Creative Thinking. The activity itself required learners to be creative problem-solvers by taking an existing game format and overlaying a structured coordinate plane onto it. An activity that shows how learners can use math into their games they play everyday
Thank you and enjoy your Autumn Break!
