1: Covid / State of Emergency Information
Okinawa has entered another State of Emergency due to the drastic rise in Covid cases. Due to this change, Hope will adhere to the following expectations and guidelines.
A: After School Clubs
Due to the 6th pandemic of Covid-19 in Okinawa, the government announced the limitation of after school activities for the time being from the 6th of January 2022. Hope has suspended all after school clubs until further notice. Any collected club fees will be deducted from the March tuition.
If a team is going to participate in the Kyushu tournament or bigger, they can begin practice 2 weeks advance ensuring alignment with the guidelines. Otherwise all after school activities or clubs are to be paused. If students would like to participate in any tournaments as an individual, you must receive approval from the school Director.
B: Covid Prevention at Hope
To ensure the safe and nurturing environment at Hope we will continue to enforce the below guidelines and implement the new additions suggested by the Ministry of Health. Please carefully read the guidelines below as they are most effective when all families are following them.
Health: All families must check their child's health each morning. If your child has a fever of 37.5 (99.5) or higher or any cold/flu symptoms, they must stay home from school for at least 24 hours after symptoms subside. Please call the office or write to school@hopeoki.org. If your child has been exposed to COVID-19, please notify us immediately and seek medical attention. If the child has tested positive, they must remain home for 14 days. If a family member has tested positive, the child must also remain at home until the family member is cleared.
Hand Washing: All students will be required to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds at regular intervals throughout the day. Hand sanitizer will be available as well and must be applied before entering the school.
Cleaning: Classrooms, restrooms, and buses will continue to be cleaned and sanitized regularly. We ask that families also take extra measures to keep the student materials clean.
Facemasks: We advise all members of the Hope community to wear a mask at all times. Facemasks can be removed if students have difficulty breathing when participating in PE or other physical activities (with social distancing).
Online Learning: Hope will offer online learning in the case that schools are asked to close. More information regarding our E-Learning will be sent at a later date.
2: Sports Day
Now let's talk about some good news!!
On December 17th we had our second Sports Day. It was a great event and we want to thank all parents that came out and participated. The students displayed great sportsmanship and team spirit! We were also very happy to see how much the older students helped the younger students throughout the event.
3: House Points Tally
The Sports Day drastically changed the current House Points. Each House worked hard to gain points during each event. They were excited to see the tally updated after each game. Here is the current total after the event and this week's earnings:
