2: New Teachers!

Please join me in welcoming 2 new teachers to our Hope Community!

Ms. Lebohang Masiteng:

Ms. Lebo will be taking the Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher role from today.

"Hello everyone my name is Lebohang Masiteng, but Lebo is "A ohkay". I'm from South Africa , Johannesburg, I have a bachelors degree in education and an honors degree in Education Law and Policy Management. I was teaching in South Korea before moving to Okinawa and joining Hope. I am passionate about education and I absolutely love being an educator. I love everything and anything fitness and sports related, my bias is football(soccer). I am excited to be part of the Hope family."

Mr. Brian Mutanu:

Mr. Brian will be teaching math for secondary students. "Greetings! My name is Brian Mutanu, originally from Kenya and I'm honored to have recently joined this school as a Maths teacher. I'm truly excited to be part of such a diverse and forward-thinking international school community. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Education, specialized in Maths and Physics and I've been teaching for the last 9 years , primarily at the secondary level. My goal is to help students not only understand Maths but also enjoy the process of learning it."

3: Learning Highlight - Exit points!

Yesterday we welcomed many parents into the school to join Exit points for Grades 2, 6, 7, 8 and today will be the Grade 1 exit point. It was exciting to see so many classes' presentations and demonstrations of their growth.

Grade 2 students displayed their understanding of the human body, using student made models, movies, and posters.

Grade 6 demonstrated their connection to the unit "Structures" by creating models of castles in Japan and Europe and cooking complex foods.

Grade 7 had puppet shows, videos and more to explain the big idea "People gain or suffer from commitment to their ideas".

Grade 8 created documentaries about what they are passionate about and shared opinions about their learning. You can view all their Videos HERE.
